The Innovation Foundation for Water and Regional Revitalization offered cooperation to the “2023 Achhi Aadat Campaign*” sponsored by JICA India Office. Dr. Yasuo Shimizu, Director of the Water Culture Inheritance Project of the Innovation Foundation, visited India and conducted education in the “Water Environment Soundness Index,” which is intended to protect the waterfront environment as one of “good habit.”

To have local children see the water quality of a river actually in the workshop, Shimizu sampled the water of the Yamuna River on the day before the workshop.
On the day, about 60 students between 8 and 13 years of age participated in the workshop, and MAMTA HIMC, which is a local NGO, also held an educational session in handwashing. In the workshop, Shimizu explained the application “Mizube Go!,” which utilizes the Water Environment Soundness Index, the water environment of rivers, water quality survey methods, etc., actually demonstrated COD measurement using a water quality test kit, and also had the children check the quality of the sampled river water using a transparency meter. At the conclusion of the workshop, Yoshikazu Nomura, President of the Innovation Foundation, delivered the message “Significance of water” to the students through Zoom from Japan. The students intensively listened to what he said, and enjoyed the workshop.
